The Gyro was invented in Chicago!
I live in chicago and my friends and I have a rule. If we order pizza, NO CHAINS. Dominos, Pizza Hut, hell no. Not when you have all the good Chicago pizza.
Never, ever, ever take shot of Malort! Not even if it is free.
#1 pizza puffs when u go to Chicago
It's funny, I have watched lots of these travel vlogs of people going to Chicago and you can tell that everyone watches everyone else's vlog before they go to Chicago because they all eat at exactly the the same places, eating exactly the same things as the people in the other vlogs. They eat that rainbow colored cake, and I am not even familiar with the place as a Chicagoan myself, because it's a tourist place no doubt meant to be super expensive to separate them from their fat vacation dollars. And they go to Garrett's to get cheddar cheese and caramel popcorn, and they go to Giordano's and eat half a piece and they are full. I eat half a pizza. I go to D'Agostinos or Bacino's or Edwardo's or Nancy's or Aurelio's. And they go to Portillo's, the Disney version of a restaurant chain hotdog place, and they think that you have to have a hotdog with a full pickle spear, and relish, and tomato, and onions, and celery salt and this and that and the other thing on it because they have been told that's what a Chicago dog is. You can eat it however you want…just no ketchup. I know of nobody who eats a dog with all that crap on it. You go to Demon Dawgs or Nana's or Gene and Jude's and get 2 or 3 dogs with just mustard on them, and maybe a little diced onion and a sport pepper or two but you don't have to eat it like it's a bloody mary or something just because you want to live like a real Chicagoan for a day and think we eat them like that. It's like, go out on your own and don't just eat the overly commercialised chain restaurant tourist loop food or what other people doing other vlogs are eating and you want to eat that to because you see their video got alot of views. There's so many great Mexican and Peruvian food joints all over the city. There is such great Greek food in Greek town like at Roditis. There is great asian food and Thai food and Vietnamese food all over, especially in uptown. Go to Ricobene's in Bridgeport. Pizzeria Uno, Gino's East, and Giordano's stink. Lou Malnati's, Pequod's, Vito and Nick's and many others are all great.
I recommend Epic Burger, if I lived next to an Epic Burger I would die happy, young, but happy
Y'all gotta hit pequod's for the real deal deep dish. Giordano's and Lou Malnatis are great too !
Thanks for your tips. Chicago hot dog and Deep Pan has been tried. Both were a success. NB: A medium size Deep Pan is more than enough for 2 adults and two young teenagers.
Go to Andersonville on the North Side. So many great restaurants and shops within walking distance on Clark st. !
Some amazing pizza I learned about 4 months ago is Angelos Pizza try it. The pizza in there is AMAZING I usually order the 16’’ pepperoni I highly recommend
Als Beef is better than Portillo's.
It's been a while since I've been to Chicago, but I've loved The Berghoff's, the Walnut Room, and Bubba Gump's.
For a GOOD Chicago style hot dog, check out Dog Haus in Lincoln Park (close to DePaul University campus). Best Chicago dog that I've honestly ever tasted. 10/10
Really loved your video, definitely gonna try all of them next week !!! so excited about chicago's food !!! Thank you.
You missed the mark on Italian Beef. Portillo's wet is the absolute best. Pick it up and eat it. If the juice is not running down your arm, you are not doing it right….
None of these foods are a big deal.
Deep dish/stuffed pizza is for out of towners and tourists. No true Chicago'an with a sliver of pride wouldn't eat either. Thin crust….. The only crust.
superdog
Deep dish is super overrated. Chicago hot dogs are insanely good and the only way I can eat a hotdog.

Chicago is famous for pickled herrings, good in deepdish pizza too
You need to include the polish sausage in this list…..before the popcorn or make the list 6+
What's the pierogi like? As Chicago has the largest Polish population outside of Poland I can imagine there's some great spots for the stuff
Au Cheval for amazing burgers!
For Mexican food: el milagro, los gallos, atoltonico or any restaurant in little village
For Puerto Rican food: la plena.
FYI I’m a born and raised native from chi town
Don’t ask for no ????we Chicago people don’t play
Superdawg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah6wKbfjqQM
chicago truly has some of the best mexican food from my experience. other states don’t have it as authentic.
One of my favs is ricobene’s
Russell’s Barbecue (famous since the 1930’s) in Elmwood Park has great roast beef (tip: pour on a ton of barbecue sauce ????or it will be too dry. I grew up eating there (love the Ribs, pork sandwiches and hamburgers too).

Yes Portillos has great Italian Beef (try it with American cheese and hot peppers… may not sound good but it really is yummy!!! ) I have to say they have the best cheese burgers!!! You have to try one! Once I did that became my }favorite item on the menu!
Love this guy – New Subscriber
July of 2019 went to my first trip to Chicago ( I’m from Detroit) went to the taste feast it was amazing never knew about Italian beef? And was so happy to have a real Chicago hot dog going back in August for AEW
I am actually obsessed with Portillos. Respect, my guy!!
The best Chicago deep dish pizza if from LouMatias, take it from a Chicago person
Frango Mints at Marshall Field's…Macy's…phhht…
The McDonald's Randolph St. HQ International Menu, anything in Chinatown, drinks atop the Hancock Building, or world's longest bar at the Hyatt Illinois Center, the Berghoff in the Loop, holder of City of Chicago Liquor License #1 and killer schnitzel. The Delta for soul food/Asian fusion. There's a lot, and it's all pretty damn good imho. I'll be transiting through Union Station tmw via Amtrak enroute to Cedar Point Amusement Park and in 6 hours, we've got 3 "must have" places to eat, sooooo… LOL
Pork chop sandwich, polish sausage!
You forgot a place to eat in Chicago: Billy Goat's Tavern for a decent cheeseburger.
Thank you
